With over 15 years of experience treating patients going through IVF, Modern Acupuncture is the place to come for IVF support acupuncture in Adelaide.  We know how important this journey is for you and will bend over backwards to meet your needs.  Although earlier systematic reviews found that evidence for the effectiveness of acupuncture used to support IVF or other assisted reproductive technology was “unclear”, a more recent systematic review by Qian et al found that “Based on an analysis of the studies, acupuncture improves the CPR [clinical pregnancy rate] among women undergoing IVF.  In addition to this, having Acupuncture during the IVF process helps you feel more relaxed and sleep better during an understandably stressful time.

What about herbs?

During the lead-up to an IVF cycle Chinese herbs may be used but when you are using IVF medication we will never give you herbs to take.  We respect that there may be drug-herbal interactions during an IVF cycle and we don't want to compromise the outcome.

Treatment Schedule

We recommend you begin IVF support acupuncture around 3 months before starting an IVF cycle.  If you've only heard about acupuncture now and have already started or about to start an IVF cycle, don't worry, the treatments will still be very beneficial to you.

In most cases weekly treatments are recommended. We advise you have an acupuncture session before and after the  embryo transfer. Weekly appointments after the IVF transfer is recommended, even during pregnancy.
